What is a bong? Great question. A bong, or water pipe, consists of a chamber filled with water that cools and filters the smoke before inhalation, providing a smooth smoking experience. STEP 1
Fill the water pipe
Remove the downstem or bowl piece from the water pipe. Then fill the chamber with just enough water to cover the bottom of the downstem. If you overfill, you could get your cannabis wet, or water might enter your mouth when you inhale. Not great.
STEP 2
Grind your cannabis
Use a grinder to break down your cannabis into smaller, evenly sized pieces. This will give you a nice, consistent burn and optimal airflow.
STEP 3
Pack the bowl
Insert the downstem or bowl piece back into the water pipe. Then gently pack a pinch of ground cannabis into the bowl piece. You don’t want to smash too much cannabis into the bowl because you need air to flow through.
STEP 4
Ignite and inhale
Hold the water pipe by the mouthpiece with one hand and place your lips inside the mouthpiece. With your other hand, use a lighter or a hemp wick to ignite the cannabis in the bowl as you gently inhale. As you inhale, the smoke will be drawn through the water, filtering and cooling it before reaching your lungs.
STEP 5
Clear the chamber
Once you’ve finished inhaling, remove the bowl piece or downstem to allow fresh air to clear the remaining smoke from the chamber. Exhale and enjoy the effects of your smoke.
