There are many strains, forms, and ways to use cannabis—and each can have a different effect on different individuals.

It can take some time and experimentation to discover your own preferences. Do not settle. Chase your bliss. And keep track of the strains you try, noting your likes and dislikes, so you have a record of your experiences.

Tune Into Your Body

Take a few minutes to write down how you’re feeling before using cannabis, including your mood and energy level. Are you trying to achieve anything specific by using cannabis? Pain relief? Creative flow? Help sleeping? Write that down, too.

Start Low and Go Slow

Anytime you’re trying a new cannabis product, start by consuming a low dose and wait to see how you feel before taking more. Keep in mind that different ways of intake will show effects at different rates. So, be patient to avoid using too much and ruining the experience. Remember, you can always take more (but you can’t take less).

Keep a Log

What were the positives? Anything you would have changed? Record your likes and dislikes to make sure you have an accurate record of your experience.

Make sure to write down whether it achieved the specific effects you were looking for.

Take Note of the Following:

  • Product/strain
  • Dominance (Indica, Sativa or Hybrid)
  • Top terpenes
  • Your intake method
  • Dosing
  • The effect (Mild, Moderate, Strong)
  • Your rating (How much you liked it)

Why do we suggest keeping track of the top terpenes in your products? They’re what give each strain a specific flavor, smell, and effect. Knowing what terpenes you prefer can help you find products you’ll love.
